Welcome to the Second Annual Dia de los Muertos 5K at Baseline Trailhead. We are so excited about this race that we got carried away!
NEWS FLASH!!...we will hold pre race packet pick up on Friday Oct 25, 2024 from 3 to 6 pm at BASELINE TRAILHEAD. Race day pick up will begin at 7am.
Dia de los Muertos is a traditional holiday that takes place in Mexico at the end of October. Its been embraced by the world because of its uplifting message. Some experts believe that the roots of the holiday are from Medieval Europe derived from the feast days, All Saints Day and All Souls Day. Wherever the origins, Dia de los Muertos is a celebration of the lives of loved ones that have passed on. The colorful costumes, music and food are a remembrance of the joy we shared with those family and friends. In this spirit, we invite you to join us at this festive event!
With your RACE PACKET you will receive:
A Super Duper Fun Shirt that you will wear over and over!
A Dia de los Muertos Sugar Skull Sticker
A REMEMBERANCE Flag that you may write the names of those you honor. The flags will line the finish chute.
Registration
5K and Virtual Early registration is $30 until midnight Oct 20, 2024. Late registration is $35 until Friday Oct 25, 2024 at 6pm when online registration closes. Race day registration will be $40 cash or check only and your shirt is not guaranteed.
The Fun Run for those 12 and under is $12 early registration and $15 late registration. Same cut off dates as the 5K. The Fun Run will include a medal and a shirt. The kids race WILL be Chip timed so they may enjoy hearing their names announced and will have access to Free Pictures.
La fecha tope for shirts (deadline) is 12 noon on Friday Oct 18, 2024. WE REALLY REALLY MEAN IT THIS TIME. Don’t be late.
The 5K will start at 8 am sharp and the Fun Run will start at 8:45 to 8:50. Awards will begin no later the 9am so you can get home to FL/GA game day prep!
THE FINISH
You will end your run at the FULLY DECORATED THEMED FINISH CHUTE...perfect for your victory shots!
NEWS FLASH JUST IN: Below is the medal you will receive. It is
4 inches wide and 5 mm thick.....heavy, heavy, heavy. As you are cheered in, your name will be announced and you will be presented with your Fabulous, Commemorative Finishers Medal! MEDALS TO THE FIRST 250 FINISHERS
POST RACE TREATS
Head over to get some refreshments and cool down while you encourage your fellow participants over the line.
Take advantage of the many photo ops around the finish area. (Post them so your friends will be envious of the good times they missed!...just kidding...your friends will be happy that you had a great day!) Check out the Awards and Prizes Tent. We have a bunch of crazy, whimsical, themed prizes sure to put a smile on your face. Your Awards are unique and decorative.
